I hired a "professional" photographer to take some still photos of an event for me.
I wanted the files on a DVD so that I could use them on a website and a leaflet.

He delivered to me a video slideshow of 8 secs of each still, which is not much use to me.

How may I convert the .VOB file to get the stills out into something like .JPG ?

The files I have are in 2 directories: VIDEO_RM and VIDEO_TS

    VIDEO_RM
    VIDEO_RM.BUP
    VIDEO_RM.DAT
    VIDEO_RM.IFO

    VIDEO_TS
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1.VOB the big file 165Mb

Any ideas how to salvage something?

The photographer can't find the original files and believes he may have only saved a copy of what he gave me anyway.

    Any hints or tips appreciated.

vobs are low quality compared to the original dslr jpg as they have been resized and re-encoded to mpeg-2. you will only be able to get 720x480 out of them. use vlc and pause at each picture and take a screenshot. you can choose jpg or png.

You can extract the dvd-video images but they are ONLY in 720x576/480 pixels. It wont look good if you print it on a leaflet...maybe enough for smaller images on a website.

    I would hire a professional photographer...and not a "proffesional".

If you can still contact him....send him a link to this thread/conversation, then ask him exactly what you paid him for.
