I have an XL1 and want to use this to record a movie i created on final cut pro x to mini dv.
Is this possible?
Running a MAC osx 10.8
my film was edited on FCP X and want to output to mini dv

can't help with fcp specifically but most editors have a print to tape function. the video usually has to be DVavi compliant.
