    I'm new to Handbrake, just got a hang of conversion and compression. I'm having trouble hardcoding srt subtitles to mp4 for Playstation 3 playback since softsubs does not work and I failed at hardcoding. Don't have trouble adding softsubs to avi with aviaddxsubs, though. Then, how to subtitle mp4 for PS3?

    Handbrake can't hardcode SRT. Only SSA or VOBSUB muxed into the source

    I'm not sure it can hardcode from srt subtitles.

    I use xvid4psp 5 to hardcode subs. Use a psp3 preset. See https://forum.videohelp.com/topic360276.html

    Subtitle Workshop (free) can convert SRT to SSA. I don't use SSA subtitles so all I can tell you is that Subtitle Workshop can do the conversion. I prefer to use Xvid4PSP to hardcode subs. It can work with Unicode SRT files and this is useful to me.

    Use a multiplexer. Like mymp4boxgui for mp4s or mkvmergegui for mkv.
