Adding a selection from PSE to a movie

Hi. I am sort of new to video editing. I would like to add a selection from a still photo to a movie. For example, I would like to have the PSE selection of someone riding on a conveyor belt. The person (selection) needs to move with the belt. I have an intel iMac. I also have iMovie, PSE, Final Cut.
Any help would be appreciated.

When you mention PSE, I assume this to be Photoshop Elements. If correct, by "selection" you are probably assuming non-rectangular areas with masks. To utilize those kind of assets, you need apps that support compositing, and possibly the ability to work in 3d space (even if just warping a 2d sheet).
FC should be able to do this, but not iMovie. Rather, you should use Motion, Shake, Commotion, AfterEffects, or another true compositor app.
