I recently obtained a JVC BR-S822U S-VHS deck for doing some video transfers. The quality of the playback beats any of my regular VHS decks by a mile. However I was noticing some slight jitter in the picture during parts of some tapes. I looked it up and a TBC looked like what I needed.
The deck I got did not come with the TBC cards. So I went on Ebay and found a similar deck and bought the TBC cards (SA-T22U) out of it.
I put them in my deck and thought all was well. However, when I turn on the TBC, the picture goes black and white. The TBC is definitely engaging as I can see the picture shift for a second, and all the proc amp controls work. But I am left with a black and white picture. All the Proc amp controls are set at unity so there is no issue there.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

Thread: JVC BR-S822U TBC problems
It is very likely the TBC card is defective. I would try to return it and receive a refund. If you can't get any results with the seller, try and see if replacing the capacitors on the board fixes the problem as you have nothing to lose at this point by attempting a repair.
Not really worth it to ask for a refund and have to ship the boards back. I'm hoping it's just a bad cap or something. Anyone have experience with this specific deck?
Turns out I just need to let the deck warm up before I use the TBC. Must need to let the capacitors fill up!
It's all working good now.
