Importing recovered MPEG-2 files into Adobe Premiere!!!

Hi everyone!
Wondering if anyone out there could help me!!!

I filmed an Indian Wedding a few months ago using a Canon XF100 which generates MXF files. However, one memory card became corrupt! After much effort, I managed to recover the footage, but it saved as MPEG Movie files. Here are the codec details from MPEG Streamclip:

There is no audio on these files and im not sure why. But this is not important, as i would only need the video for the edit.
For editing, I use Adobe Premiere CS5 on Mac, and these clips do not import into the software.
The error message that shows is: "There was an error decompressing audio or video"

The files do play in VLC, but its very slow and only a few seconds long. I can, however, see the timecode and most clips say it is more than 3minutes long. but it only plays back a few seconds!!!! They do not play in any other video player i have. And they dont even import into Adobe encoder or sorensen squeeze so that i can convert the file!

Ok, what i need to ultimately achieve, is to import the footage into Premiere and ensure it is all the footage, not just a few seconds!

This all could be fixed by a very simple solution like a missing codec or something but at the moment i am a bit lost!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

Your camcorder should generate something like 6.25MB per second = 50Mbit per second, so compare volume of the clip with how long did you actually record, is all data there at all?

Yeah the xf100 generates approx 6.6mbps. so if i look at one recovered clip, for example, it is a 200mb file. But the timecode states it should be a 6minute clip! So 360seconds x 6.6 mbps = 2.376 GB! So it should be a 2gb file, not a 200mb file.

If i compare this to a working clip, it is a 2.05 GB file and runs for 5mins 15 seconds.... so 2005mb/315seconds = 6.36 mbps. sounds about right...

So that means there not enough data on the clip! am i right????
