Descent Video Cutting and Spltting Software

I have quite a few videos that i want to upload to Facebook but just need to cut some bits of the end and beginning first. I've done a lot of google searching and all the ones i've downloaded have either been crap or the outputted files won't post on Facebook.

So basically i'm just looking for a simple free piece of software to cut bits out and off the end and beginning of videos.

Any suggestions please?

What kind of videos ? download mediainfo and show us the codecs and we can suggest something

So you have tried avidemux, Free Video Dub, virtualdub, solveigm avi trimmer, mpg2cut2? Or used Freemake video converter, use the scissor and then convert to a mp4?

Thanks for your replies. The videos are mp4, wmv and avi. Some i've downloaded. I'll try out some of those recommend programs
