Hi All,
Yesterday, I downloaded the trial version of Corel Video Studio Pro X5 and this is the first time I'm using any video editing software. I find the software to be a bit daunting to understand, could you please help me in finding some tutorials that would help me in using the software.
Basically, we are developing a short film and shooting it with our Kodak Digital Camera and I would be requiring the software for editing purposes. I need to learn on how to clip certain parts of the film, add sound effects at certain parts, add external audio clip at certain parts, put a picture at certain time and so on.
Please help me in achieving this.
Thanks,
Indu.

Some suggestions:
>Go to a good bookstore (Barnes & Noble, etc.) and pick up an introduction to Corel Video Studio book. The "...for Dummies" series books are good for base-beginners.
>Maybe some information for you here: http://corel.force.com/index/kbsearchresultspage?applicationSubCategory=VideoStudio&la...nTutorial_test
>Try Google search; many software products have support forums for other users. You can get some great help there.
>Check the Help file in your downloaded version; they usually have some kind of "getting started" tutorial that you can work through. If I am correct, I believe that Corel purchased Pinnacle, and Pinnacle always had a video tutorial instruction. Check carefully on your copy.
This forum is not designed for detailed instruction on how to get started in a certain product; it is just too large a subject. The guys here can provide help on individual problem with video editing, but not complete tutorials. Hope this helps. -
Thanks ranchhand. Appreciate your reply. Let me check, if I can get something out of the ways you mentioned above.

Hi Ranchchand,
Thanks very much. The corel.force.com has a good tutorial on how to remove unwanted portions from the video, I just followed the guide and was able to trim my video. Appreciate your help. -
You can also search youtube for videostudio pro tutorials. Maybe not the best tutorials but it might help you get an idea how to use different functions.

Hi Gripps,
I have watched couple of your videos on youtube and they are awesome, I subscribed to your videos.
While going through one of your videos, I encountered an issue with regards to overlaying of videos in the main video. I have given the details below regarding the issue I'm facing:
Actually I want to embed one video into another. But, the main video doesn't have a green background, so when I embed the second video into the main video, even after using the chroma key and adjusting the transparency level, I'm still getting a box surrounding the second video in my main video. Please note, there is no border selected but still I'm getting an outline for the second video. Basically, I want the second video to seamlessly embed in the first video, similar to your tutorial (Corel VideoStudio Pro x4, insert video effect). The goal is to have the second video in the main video, as if it is part of the main video itself.
Could you kindly help me in resolving this issue.
Many Thanks. -
Hi
Little confused when you say the main video doesn't have a green background. When applying a second clip to main, there is no need to do anything to your first clip. The overlay clip is where you can do chroma key effect. The second clip must have one solid colour.
Another option is apply Picture in picture (Pip) FX filter to main clip tut here: http://youtu.be/MFFU_0tdcZE
If you are still having issues , use the screen capture option, upload and send me the link, happy to help.

Hi Gripps,
Basically, the issue I'm facing while embedding the overlay image onto the main image is, even after applying chroma key settings and changing the tolerance levels, I'm still saying a sort of border of the overlaid image in the main image/video. I have attached the screen capture for your reference. If you see the borders are present on the top side. Basically, my aim is to give an effect that main image and the overlay image are within self.
Many Thanks for your help. -
Your image has two colors Grey and White, chroma can only remove one color. If this is a still image, you can either mask the background using Boris filter or use photo shopshop cutting him from the background.
Mask tut here: http://youtu.be/hsQUhhB2U8c

Thanks Gripps. I don't seem to have Boris Filter in my trial version of the videostudio software. I was just playing around to implement the chroma keying with the picture, actually I would require this kind of manipulation for a overlaid video. I guess the same rule regarding colors for chroma keying hold true for video as well. If that is the case, then is it possible to do some kind of manipulation to remove the border stuff from the video? Basically my goal as stated previously is to simulate the overlaid video as part of the main video itself.
Thanks for your help.
