Need help to make my computer slow

Hello, i have a Acer laptop running windows 7, my school gave it to me but i need a upgrade, it has no options and i told them it sucks. they want me to talk to technical support and have them look at it remotely i believe........ my question is? what can i do to make it seem suppppper slow or seem messed up so i can get a upgrade? after all i have paid over 17k to this school they can at-least give me a good computer. Good odds you are low on RAM, this is often the most cost-effective upgrade you can do.

Upgrading RAM is probably the easiest and (not so) cheapest solution, but the school staff likely won't allow physical modification. For one thing, user mods might void a warranty if one exists. IF the school staff doesn't go for it, the owner will have to take the chance doing it.

It can be. It's also possible to pay $25000 USD or more per year. It's also possible to pay under $10000 USD per year. It all depends on where you go. Some schools charge more than others. If you go to a school in a different state than the state where you live, you have to pay extra costs for being an out of state student. The cost of an American college education at some schools is a big problem because young people are taking out loans and they run up huge debts. Some college debts can take people 20-30 years to pay off. By law you cannot get certain types of education loans forgiven by bankruptcy, so those debts will stay with the student until they pay it off or die, whichever is first.

The first sentence is exactly what I was thinking.

If you want to add ram you'd probably have to have the same tech support dept. install it, and they'll charge for it.

It would help if you specified what the specs are. If you expect them to give you a gaming capable laptop, well ... see 1st statement above, the 2nd part.

Getting a 7200rpm HDD and running an anti-malware program regularly will help, don't expect a video or gaming machine with that processor.

EDIT: better yet buy your own laptop, you can get an i5 processor with dedicated graphics for ~$600USD.

MOVIEGEEK is right, this not a gaming rig. I have a 2005 laptop with a faster AMD processor! I see this Acer is about a $400 machine (or less), which is really just for email and word processing. I don't think even UTube videos would play smoothly on it. I'd say it'll do for homework, but any extracurricular funsies are gonna be sluggish.

Just accidentally drop it in the water and you will be in real need of the new computer. That's easy.

Hm. That would definitely slow it down! But don't try it with nice clean water (or even soapy water) in your bathtub. That might look like on-purpose. Wait for a rainy day, then find some nice oily/grimy/goopy puddle in the street. Backup your personal documents beforehand.
