DVD with null audio as default channel

Well, i have a dvd video region 1 (brought in usa, i'm mexican so my dvd player is region 4), the movie obviously is in english; I (have to admit) downloaded an spanish audio in ac3 format and created an mpeg2 file with the original video and the downloaded audio; Now, i used dvdlab and avstodvd to create an iso file several times; The problem is that whenever i play the disk, the default audio stream is muted and my audio stream appears as a 2nd stream. I can select it and plays fine, with sound and everything.

I separated the video and audio streams (mpv and mp3 respectively), and encoded the mpv with my ac3 to create an mpeg2 file which plays fine in any player; The problem comes once is converted to dvd. Once avstodvd of dvdlab create the dvd structure or image file, when i play it always appears 2 audio streams, the default one without sound. Even if i put only 1 audio stream. The same happens with the subtitles, regardless if i check the default option in dvdlab, they are always disabled by default.

How can i solve that or what i did wrong?

Download DVDShrink and open the VIDEO_TS folder, you can then select the audio track and subtitles that you want. Output as a DVD folder and burn with ImgBurn.

Yes, i have dvd shrink, imgburn, vobtompeg, and dvd decrypter. I extracted the files several times with all of them; Anydvd didn't found any kind of protection (maybe because is a very old movie), so, no warnings in any program.

The weird thing is that, none of them detects a 2nd audio stream; I loaded the iso image in many programs, like dvd shrink, and only detects one audio stream. Then, i created a mpeg2 file, and the video_ts folder with all the vobs, ifo, bup, etc. that should be there. Mediainfo says it only has one audio source. Whenever i play with vlc the folder video_ts, it plays fine, as it should be (detects only 1 audio and subtitles are loaded by default). The same is for the mpeg2 file; But once i create the iso file or burn the video_ts folder, there appears 2 audio streams, the default one has no sound and the subtitles are disabled; I can enable them both using the dvd player or vlc player's menus, but my point is that i wanted the audio and subtitles being enabled by default and no program can do it! Even if i select the options to do it...

Maybe there is a problem in the version of DVD-lab PRO you're using.

There are some glitches and issues that didn't happen in the older builds.

I'd start a project from scratch - create new project and load only demuxed files into DVD Lab pro

Did you try setting the default streams with DVDShrink or are you just here to vent your anger? I didn't recommend DVDShrink to decrypt the DVD, I recommended it because it can fix authoring errors. I agree with the previous poster to start your project over from scratch.

Well, i managed to solve this:

There wasn't more than 1 audio stream when i rebuilded the whole thing; I demuxed the video and audio, then, remuxed and encoded the video by separate, without audio, then finally in avstodvd i added the video and ONLY 1 audio stream + the subtitles in srt. Once avstodvd builds the iso, when i play it in vlc or after burning it, happens the same: The dvd player and vlc detects 2 audio streams, the first without sound and subtitles disabled... Where it came that 2nd audio stream? i don't know. And how the subtitles became disabled by default when i configured the project to have them enabled?

The mysterious solution: I renamed the iso file and everything began to work... The 2nd audio stream disappears magically and the subtitles are now enabled by default in the same file which was giving me problems... Really! i rename the iso file to whatever.iso and the 2nd stream appears and disappears from playback and even when you burn it! If i burn the iso with a certain name the dvd player detects 2 audio streams (the first without sound). And if i burn the same file with another name it plays just fine...

You can just skip the section about adding new subtitles and simply replace the audio file with the new audio under the "Author to a new DVD" section. This would have been MUCH easier than anything that was suggested.

Must you get pissed off about EVERYTHING I say if you are in the thread? You and I have tangled before. It gets old.

There's nothing "wrong" with it. However my method allows him to keep the original menus. The DVDLab method does not. Seems like keeping the menus might be nice, but if he doesn't care then that's OK too.

I would have to agree with you. It's extremely easy and doesn't take much time with that guide.
