joined video plays back fast

Using avidemux 2.5.4. Sometimes after joining or appending several video parts into one, it then plays back at perhaps double speed. This occurs with different formats (e.g., mpg, wmv, avi).

Also after editing a video and saving it, it will play back successfully. However, that video file will then fail to open in avidemux for any additional editing. Thanks for your help.

Try avidemux 2.6?

Or try some other video joiners, http://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/video-editors-basic

But joining video often cause problems so it best to avoid that and just use playlists in your players instead.
