I wan to join two avi files and then convert to DVD file with DVD Flick then burn them as one dvd with BurnAware. I understand the two avi must have the same attributes. I can open them in media info and paste the text into notepad. Is there any program that will check the text looking for any differences or does it have to be done manually?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

What kind of AVI? AVI is a container that can hold several video formats. Try the free MediaInfo app. When you run the installer it will ask if you want to install some extra toys. The answer should be no (really, how many Internet toolbars can one use, anyway?). Let the installer finish, then click the MediaInfo program icon and configure to let MediaInfo place an entry in your Windows context menus (very convenient, actually). When it runs for the first time, it will ask for an input file.

When you are re-encoded (e.g. MPEG2 for DVD) , the actual encoding settings used don't matter because you can do the joining occurs in the lossless domain (as it's being decoded) . ie. it's not necessary to join the AVI beforehand
But the characteristics that you do need to match are video resolution, frame rate, audio sample rate and channels . If those paramaters don't match, you cannot join (even in the lossless domain) . You would have to make adjustments, either resize, resample etc... . There is no automated way to determine what needs to be done
Either mediainfo or gspot can give you this information . If you post the reports, someone will help you -
I used avi joiner to make a 1.3 gb AVI from twoo 700MB files sizes approx. Thanks fro the feedback everyone some of it is above my head

Of course DVDFlick will re-encode. DVD is MPEG2....not AVI.
