  1. Hello.
like mentioned in this thread: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/330163-VirtualDub-missing-compression-codec-options I only have those codec options.
So I was going to try x264vfw also mentioned in that thread. https://www.videohelp.com/tools/x264-Encoder
But when I download it and click on the .exe file there is a cmd window flashing by fast and I am unable to see the text. I managed to take a screenshot just before it closed and it said: "x264 [error]: No input file. Run x264 --helpfor a list of options.". The .exe file is called just x264 and their site x264.nl does not mention "x264vfw" anywhere.

So I also found x264vfw on sourceforge. http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/?source=directory What is the difference between these two?

Or should I try something else? I simply want to make uncompressed videos from for example fraps a lot smaller so that I can upload them faster.

    Thank you in advance!

  2. x264.exe is the command line encoder, not the vfw encoder.

If you downloaded and installed x264vfw you would see x264 as one of the encoders available in VirtualDub. Video -> Compression...

If you are running 64 bit Windows: be sure you have 32 bit codecs if you are using 32 bit VirtualDub, or 64 bit codecs with 64 bit VirtualDub. The 32 bit and 64 bit systems are completely separate. Neither can see the others codecs.
