Hi folks,
Couple of General Questions ...
Q1: Using VirtualDub 1.10.1 and choosing H.264 with 2 Filters for Full Video Processing in one pass mode with set Bitrate ... is 12 to 15fps the fastest this Encoder can go on a laptop with T5750 Intel (2.0 GHz) ... nothing else is running?
Q2: Is there anyway that can this be Speeded Up?
Q3: Is the Quality of H.264 that much worthed ... or should I just use the XviD that comes with VirtualDub to get faster FPS?
Thanks,
G!

Depends on the x264 settings and which filters are used. Whether the size/quality/cputime is worth it is up to you. I don't really use Divx/Xvid anymore, only x264. With standard definition material I can get anywhere from about 2 fps to 400 fps depending on the x264 settings and whether I'm filtering -- on a quad core i5 2500K.

Hi Jagabo,
Quad Core i5, 2500K ... hmmm, I need to save up some money and change my laptop to i5 or even i7. So, x264 is the way to go.
Thanks for the explanation. You are always very Helpful ... Appreciate it.

I don't know if this is entirely up to date (the presets change every now and then) but here's a list of the preset settings in x264:
