  1. I have a 3d MKV but I don't have enough glasses for everyone so I'd like to just watch it in 2d.
I thought this would be a much talked about issue, not so much.

I found the options for "Cropadd" filter in VLC to crop so many pixels from the left/right/top/bottom - but Cropadd is missing from the filter-enable list! ... which is not in alphabetical order (lol) and after 6 reads up and down the list, I just don't see it....

So I've installed GOM player and looking at its options. (doesn't work)
Splash and PotPlayer are also a no-go.

Is there a solution for this? It seems a simple thing to just show the left or right side!

  3. This worked

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --video-filter=croppadd --croppadd-cropright=1200 "1080movie.mkv"

Using Video Effects does not allow the aspect ratio to work properly, it wont fit the screen.
Opening with the command line, then adjusting the aspect does work.

VLC is the weirdest, most frustrating of all the video players, but it does just about anything.

    They? ...whatever...

There are a number of ways to either a) convert 3d to 2d or b) convert 3d to anaglyph.
How depends on how your "3dmkv" is/are formatted...

You'll have to give us more info ...
