What are some of the better freeware VOB edit/cut tools. I am looking to cut the lead-in/lead-out waste from my ripped files so as that I may compile them into a complete DVD in the future. I would also like them to remain playable (for now) as individual VOB files via my software player. Mind you, I am a scene stealer and not talking about complete movies

For some reason I can not get the demo version of DVDCutter3.0 to recognize and open known good VOB files. They load in the tools->cut/join option but that is not quite the type of edit I am attempting. Also, I have tried vobSplitter but it has no visual interface for scene selection (seems to only be selectable blindly via file size).

    Info is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Ok... I believe I may be loosing my senses! I can usualy figure out all my video editing needs but this one has me stumped. I have been over to divx-digest.com (dvd-digest.com) but can not seem to find an app that will allow me to trim the excess out of a "single" VOB file. I have been researching info and searching the inet for days but am coming up emptyhanded, am I missing something glaringly simple?

As stated before, what I am attempting to do is just pluck small portions of individual VOB files to be later compiled into a DVD of its own. For now though I would like to be able to remain playing these VOB snipets via a software DVD player.

    Thanks,
    golem

    Hi unclebud,

Not sure DVD2AVI is what I can use unless you're able to advise how it is possible to resave in VOB format using this app. I use DVD2AVI all the time when ripping dvd's to vcd's but can not find a way to use it in this instance.

I am just looking to edit VOB's in the same way that we edit AVI's with VDub. Don't need all the bells and whistles though, all I want to do is cut out very small portions while leaving it in VOB format.

    Cheers,
    golem
