I have a few AVCHD recordings made using a Panasonic GH2 onto a SD card. I use Corel Video studio X5 as an editor. Whilst I normally have no issues importing/transferring the MTS/M2Ts files into the editor, one file in particular, which happens top be the largest but not excessively so, causes VS X5 to crash and produce a .dmp file.
The same file plays quite happily in Splash Lite but crashes windows media player.
I'd appreciate any input as to what may be wrong with the offending file and what, if anything, I can do about it.
Regards
Paul

Dear Baldrick
Thank you for replying so quickly. I did as you suggested and remuxed to TS and m2ts. Both of these now play in windows media player but sadly still cause Corel VS X2 and X5 to crash when I try to import them.
Thanks again for your help.

Maybe it's an issue with Corel VS since WMP is ok with it ?
You can try downloading a trial version of Sony Vegas or some other editing software - if it doesn't crash in there it's more likely an issue isolated with Corel VS - check their forums for problems and updates
You can try a workaround by re-encoding it to a different format format for import -
Thank you for your suggestions. Converting to a lesser format did allow me to import into VS X5. I also removed the audio from the offending file and for some reason beyond my comprehension the remaining video did import into VS X5 without issue. Perhaps the audio had somehow corrupted or was too long (only 2+ minutes).
Thanks again for your suggestions.

This may or may not help, but install Video Studio Pro X5 Service Pack 1 update (released 4th June).
One of the fixes is regarding file formats.
