I have an AVI video file (no audio , just video) and its about 4minutes and it ways 53.3MB which is rather to heavy for a 4minute video without audio . so i am trying to shrink this video to about 10 or 15mb with virtual dub . I have seen articles online here : http://maketecheasier.com/how-to-compress-a-video-file-with-virtualdub/2009/05/31 and here http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/compress-videos-send-email/ on how to use virtual dub BUT in my own case whenever i try to shrink my video i get an "error 100" message . I would appreciate some help or suggestions . Here is the video analysis from media info:

1st one is used to allow Virtual Dub to decode the input (Preview windows should show something now)
2nd one needs to be selected and configured under video->compression.
->
Option a. : readup
1. read up on how Virtual Dub works: http://negativesum.net/tech/tools/VirtualDub.pdf
2. read http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/X264_Settings to understand the meaning of the setting in the x264vfw configuration (the page linked is not ment for x264vfw, but it should help to understand the options presented)
Option b. : Wait for someone to write you a guide
Wait for someone to write you a step-by-step guide, that fits your problem.

I understand that the video width is the problem as their are not divisible by 2 . On virtual dub > video> filter > add > resize , i am trying to resize my video to 322 x 222 which is the closest to what my video is now 333 x 224 however when i type in 322 the other width automatically changes by itself . how can i force the video to accept the size i am assign to it using the resize option . Please help .

http://www.virtualdub.org/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=95 -> setting Aspect Ratio to disabled should allow to adjust width&height independently
btw. I'm still unclear on why use use resize instead of simply cropping (http://www.virtualdub.org/docs_processing.html) one pixel, but you probably have a reason for it,... -
I would crop one line off the width (leaving 312x224) rather than resize. The quality will be better.
