I edited an MPEG2 file(from my POS WinTV7 - TV capture) in AviDemux....but I believe I had the output set to AVI(instead of MPEG-PS) when I saved the video. It plays in VLC of course but nothing else will open it(I need to take one, tiny 10 second piece of this video).

    Format : AVI
    Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave
    File size : 1.80 GiB
    Duration : 58mn 36s
    Overall bit rate : 4 395 Kbps

    Video
    ID : 0
    Format : MPEG Video
    Format version : Version 2
    Format profile : Main@Main
    Format settings, BVOP : Yes
    Format settings, Matrix : Default
    Format settings, GOP : M=3, N=15
    Codec ID : MPEG
    Codec ID/Info : Chromatic MPEG 1 Video I Frame
    Duration : 58mn 35s
    Bit rate mode : Variable
    Bit rate : 4 001 Kbps
    Nominal bit rate : 5 000 Kbps
    Width : 720 pixels
    Height : 576 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 4:3
    Frame rate : 25.000 fps
    Standard : PAL
    Color space : YUV
    Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
    Bit depth : 8 bits
    Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Top Field First
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.386
    Stream size : 1.64 GiB (91%)

    Audio
    ID : 1
    Format : MPEG Audio
    Format version : Version 1
    Format profile : Layer 2
    Codec ID : 50
    Duration : 58mn 36s
    Bit rate mode : Constant
    Bit rate : 384 Kbps
    Channel(s) : 2 channels
    Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
    Bit depth : 16 bits
    Stream size : 161 MiB (9%)
    Alignment : Aligned on interleaves
Interleave, duration : 40 ms (1.00 video frame)

Any ideas on how to fix it?
THANK YOU in advance if you can help.

  4. You could probably play the original file if you install an "MPEG in AVI" decoder. ffdshow has one.

Either VirtualDub or AviDemux suggested just that (as I recall), and I think I have ffdshow installed but I have NO idea where to find it.

  7. Normally, Start -> All Programs -> ffdshow -> Video Decoder Configuration. To open such file in VirtualDub you need to configure Start -> All Programs -> ffdshow -> VFW Configuration.
