  1. I backed up a DVD using DVD Decryptor. There are several .vob fles in the VIDEO_TS folder I wish to delete before burning this backup. However, after removing the unwanted .ifo, bup .vob files from the compilation (NERO), when I start the burn, NERO grouses and tells me the disk may be unplayable.

Presumably somewhere there is an index which is looking for these files. How do I fix this?

    Summation:
    Decrypt DVD with DVD Decryptor
remove unwanted .vob files (scenes I do not wish to burn)
remove .ifo and .bup files bearing same name as unwanted .vob files
    Burn with NERO
Encounter errors which indicate NERO is looking for the deleted files.

Thanks for helping and Old Noob!

All the VOB files in a DVD fileset are linked in the index files (ifo). You can't just delete them and leave a playable DVD.
The indexes need to be rebuilt.

You could do this with DVDShrink, for instance which lets you choose exactly which elements to keep, as well as compressing the MPEG if you need that (say to fit a DVD9 to a DVD5).

You could also use VobBlanker or DVDStripper.
