  1. Something is wrong with my head or this software have changed over time in the new version
    http://www.aoamedia.com/audioextractor.htm

Im positive that with the free edition of this soft you could sett a start and end split time
    http://www.imagebanana.com/view/iv93nrzx/irriterad.jpg
for the extraction output, it somewhere in the interface opened up a menu with
a left and right sliders that you moved towards each other to shrink down from the overall movie length slider.

Where have i seen this freeware slider otherwise???

I need a freeware video to audio extractor with a working splitt feat!.
"Any Audio Converter" was an alternative until i stopped understanding how to insert
correct! time numbers for the splitting selection. Now i have no soft that can do others than
extracting the entire movie that will take a decade.

What kind of video file are you trying to extract the audio from?

Its difficult to suggest a good freeware to use unless we know what type of files you're working with.

You might consider this one however, since it is pretty universal (i.e. can extract audio from a multitude of diff file types)

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/Pazera-Free-Audio-Extractor

It also has a timing selector on it, so you can chose a specific segment of the audio you wish to extract. (in other words it a 'splitting selection' feature)

    Hope this helps

Unfortunately I was unable to test the other freewares you mentioned because I have a Mac, and both of those programs are designed for PCs

But give Pazera a try and post back to let us know if it worked for you. After all, it's also freeware... so there's nothing to lose.

I'll do some searching over the next couple of days and see if I can't find something else out there.

  5. Drop, or load your video file into Audacity, cut at start and end points, double-click to highlight the cut selection, export selection to whatever format you like. Use the Options button in export file selection window to select quality and/or tags. One real advantage to this is that 5.1 can be saved in it's original surround sound format, say, from a favorite DVD.

Make sure you have the FFmpeg and Lame plugin encoders installed in Audacity and you're good to go.
