I need a way to deal with HD video. I have an HD camcorder with plenty of MTS files. I also have a Windows Media Center with multiple XBOX's as Media Extenders. I have 1 BluRay player, but no burner.

I am an IT guy, but am a novice at video format/encoding.

I want to be able to keep HD quality on my HD video but I need it to be able to play in my WMC/WME and be smaller in space. I tried dozens of apps to convert the MTS files and then combine them from many files to 1, but nothing I tried seemed to work.

On a side note, on my WMC I have a bunch of DVD's stored in VOB format, but I am using handbrake to change them into M4V with H264. Does that sound like a good idea to save space, retain quality, and make them playable on WMC and XBOX as Media Extenders?

I would like to know what kind of solution to use for these videos/movies and the software I can use to do it. I would rather not spend a ton on the software, but I am frustrated and willing to pay something for it. I would like to be able to use 1 piece of software to do it, but I am open to any of your suggestions.

    Thanks

  2. Try this (it will only join clips - no fancy transitions):

Is there something wrong with the conversions from Handbrake? If they work and look good to you, then it sounds like a success.

You could try (14 day trial so nothing lost!):

I tried tsmuxer, but the problem is that it makes u select each MTS file separately. I have hundreds of MTS files at least so I need the ability to multi-select or select a folder, and have it output a format that retains HD quality, will play on WME, and is in a single file.

On a side note, if I get a BluRay, whats the best way to store it the way I described above?

I have tried multiAVCD but it does not seem to work for me. Although I am not 100% sure which format to use for output, I have tried several and each one of them fails. The MTS Joiner loks like it requires VOB2MPG Pro. I have not tried that yet because it has a price to buy it.

Like I said, I am willing to pay for a single piece of software to do everything I need, if I can find a good one.
