I borrowed a mates Samsung camcorder so I could capture some of my old footage.
    My camcorder needs repair.

So anyway, it seems to sync up ok, but does not come through.
And even when I play the tape on the camcorder itself, only a blue screen appears.

    Any thoughts?

    I am using cyberlink PD.

I did DL the driver for the model, but not sure it installed correctly.

But even if it did not, why wouldn't the tape play on the camcorder itself?

What camcorder model? What format are the tapes? What model camcorder were they shot on?

Were you shooting standard def 720x576 MiniDV format on the HDR-HC9 or HDV?

The Samsung can only play a standard def tape. There shouldn't be a special driver requirement for MiniDV captured Firewire.

    1080 so thats the prob.

    Is it only older Samsungs?

I was thinking about buying a 2nd hand cheap cc off ebay, but this would be a common problem with older cc's?

It must be an HDV model to play 1080i. Canon HV or Sony HC series.
