Hi all
(I'm a newbie to video conversions, so please bear with me
Just got a HD satellite receiver. It has a model nuber printed infront of it, which is N 8760B. No idea what the brand etc is ? How can I find this out.
Anyway, I recorded a program from a subscription based channel on a USB disk. It is a .trp format, which my PC doesn't recognize. I have searched Google high and low. Simplest thing I've done as suggested is to rename file extension to .ts
That didn't help. I am playing it with latest VLC.
Now as suggested on this website, I downloaded a couple of software and truied to demux? it to something that could be played on the PC.
First one I tried was ProjectX. Downloaded it, compiled it. It didn't recognize the file type.
Warning comes up which I have pasted below.

-> Filetype is unknown
!> Filetype not supported !
summary of created media files:
=> 0 bytes written...
-> we have 1 warnings/errors.
Then I tried TSRemux. It also gives an error, which I have a screenshot of:
On a related note, this is the file structure of the USB drive that the info is being recorded to:
Surely there must be a way of converting this file to .avi or something which I can play on my PC !
My system is a i7 920, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, 6GB RAM, AMD 6870
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

h264ts_cutter => tools => Convert TRP/REC -> TS
https://www.videohelp.com/tools/H264TS-Cutter
You may need haali media splitter , ffdshow installed and configured with preferred codec tweaker
Or use vlc to convert it (since it can play it) -
OK , installed haali, ffdshow.
After I installed ffdshow, as you said I enabled most of the video codecs. However, I couldn't see any which said '.trp'
Anyway, after doing all of above, I ran file thru h264ts and this is the message that came up.
It then asks me to Quit or Continue, but nothing happens.
Sorry, if I am missing any step in between, please let me know... I am a newbie at all this.
Thanks -
on windows 7 you need to use preferred filter tweaker as well to enable ffdshow
(otherwise the microsoft decoder will prevail and will give problems with many programs)
If that still doesn't work, can you upload a small sample ?
Also, some streams might be encrypted, this makes it very difficult if not impossible to work around -
OK .. installed the preferred filter tweaker and changed all 32-bit decoders to ffdshow.
There arent any for 64-bit, which is the WIndows I am running ??
As for the sample, hang on, I will recored another small clipping from TV and be back.
Thanks for helping me out -
you can run all 32-bit filter chain on 64-bit os (e.g. 32-bit ffdshow) => this will work for most programs
if you run 64-bit filter chain, they all have to be 64-bit (ie. you would need a 64-bit version of ffdshow)
i would leave it as you have it now and try it like that first -
Dumb question , but did you push ok? There should be a 2nd dialog box opening that shows you the streams
-
Here it is if anyone wants to give it a try
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20969720/DATA00.trp (~ 7MB)
ThanksLast edited by geek7899; 7th Mar 2012 at 19:29.

It's missing a sequence header - I don't know of any method to access or convert the data. Maybe someone else knows a workaround

The file is probably encrypted. Precisely so you can't do what you're trying to do.

It is most likely encrypted. How do I remove it.
There must be some way of doing it !! -
