Hi all:
Tryng to reduce the size of some mkv movies.
First convertion eith handbrake went fine and I got an mp4 file.
2nd convertion with same settings for another movie gave me an m4v - mpeg-4 file !!!
Besides that the first one I can easily play it using potplayer or MPC, the and I cannot play it !!!
Any ideas ??
handbrake cannot convert to avi ??
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Even if you just rename it to mp4?
Post the details from both the mkv and mp4 using mediainfo, view->text.
And you can use handbrake 0.9.3 if you want to avi conversion, https://www.videohelp.com/tools/HandBrake/old-versions#download -
Her it is:

I would try shrink it with something else like xmedia recode, format factory, freemake video converter...or try the latest handbrake beta build from https://build.handbrake.fr/view/Nightlies/ .
-
I used format factory for converting.
It works, but for a source movie with 8,3 GB I got an avi with 6,27 GB so not good to burn in a DVD with 4.7 GB
How can I configue it to give me not more than the 4.7 GB ?? -
I would like to make it the best quaity possible within the 4,7 GB
Is there any rule ?? what bit-rate to use to get the best quality with 4,7 gb ?? -
Set the movie length also and then use that audio and video bitrate in format factory.
-
Movie lenght is "video size" ???
If so which one to use ?? there are so many !!
Shall I use DVD-PAL ??
