  1. Hi Dears

I want to download a video which is streaming from mms protocol and has a *.wmv format.
I tried using VLC, Net Transport & many other programs to do it, but it didn't help and didn't work out.

for example i have a video link like this mms://media.iransima.ir/tv3/tv3_13901101_004.wmv

when i click this link in browser, it opens Windows Media Player and starts buffering and playing.

Anyone can help me, how to download this streaming video?

    Thanks in Advance

The first thing that you should know is:
The stream located at mms://media.iransima.ir/tv3/........ has a special format. Microsoft defines this format as "playlist". The "playlist" format contains multiple streams which all have the same URL therefore they cannot be downloaded individually. One stream needs to be finished playing (or downloading) in order to access the next. The "playlist" format is rarely used.

2nd, You could download it with NetTransport. Take a look!!
    The downloaded file information:
    Format : VC-1
    Format profile : MP@HL
    Codec ID : WMV3
    Codec ID/Info : Windows Media Video 9
    Codec ID/Hint : WMV3
Description of the codec : Windows Media Video 9 - Professional
    Duration : 12mn 53s
    Bit rate mode : Constant
    Bit rate : 1 863 Kbps
    Width : 720 pixels
    Height : 576 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 5:4
    Frame rate : 30.000 fps
    Standard : PAL
    Amazing stream quality by Iranian!!

  3. VLC was able to download that wmv file.

    Media -> Convert/Save
Network tab, enter mms:url, press Convert/Save
Enter file name for local file
Press the little tool button next toe the Settings/Profile.
    Select ASF/WMV as the Encapsulation
Go to the Video Codec tab and select Keep Original Video Track
Go to the Audio Codec tab and select Keep Oringal Audio Track
    Press Save
    Press Start

    Thanks For Reply

Actually i did try to download with Net Transport, but all those Green logs (as in your image) was Red for me, which mentioned that Net Transport couldn't download the file.

I just ran Net Transport (as administrator) and it did connect to server and downloaded file .

Thanks, You're right. as i mentioned in previous post, the problem was Windows Seven's firewall which did not allow the program to connect to server

  7. Hello everyone!

    Just joined the forum!

Thanks to dear Bahman for the solution! just wanted to suggest a little trick in NetTransport to take in account:

when adding new download, click "other settings" at right down corner, go to Streaming tab, under MMS section, set user agent to
    Code:
    WMPlayer/12.0.7601.17514 guid/3300AD50-2C39-46C0-AE0A-8BF52187E2C6
, click ok. you should get 2 download job, one with a size of 1.29MB or something and other with higher than 100MB in size!

    check the screenshot to confirm.

Normally, if you dont do this trick, the download process loops at downloading of "Ads" with size of 1,29 MB.

    Hope this helps!

    Enjoy fast download

VLC worked. Similar to the first three lines of my earlier post -- then add the Dump Raw Input option.
