silenttalk, CCE isn't as feature rich as TMPG. The only thing cce is good for, is video encoding, nothing else. For the rest use the well-known freeware.

  4. i agree, tmpg is truly kick azz for all the features ,da templates that you want etc..
i do my vcd'z with it, load up sefy's template or an lvcd one and away you go.
for svcd though, cce is probably the way to go, but run your own tests, cue up some trailerz, vobz, and compare the difference. Your eyes will tell you what looks good on your pc/tv.

  5. Silenttalk,

I think you might be missing the point...just like I did

You drag your AVI file, say from explorer, on to the splash screen and then things start to happen. Hope this is what you mean....otherwise I'm gonna look pretty stupid!

  6. I found out CCE SP 2.5 will convert video in 1/4 the time Tmpgenc does with slightly better video quality, but does crappy audio and doesn't have mux/demux tools; So you can create a mpv video file with CCE and use Tmpgenc "system audio only" (or a freeware audio encoder like tooLAME) to create the mpa audio file (very fast) and also multiplex the mpv and mpa with Tmpgenc (also very fast). It's a good deal if you get CCE cracked but that 3,000+ dollar retail value kinda blows my mind.

  7. Hi !

I am capturing with my Studio DV Pinnacle Software (till
now 706*576). I would like to use CCE SP 2.50 (to make mpv)
but it can't resize my DV AVI.
Is it better to make Studio DV produce a 480*576 AVI
or should I resize and frameserv with VirtualDub to CCE?
If I frameserv the CCE-Speed-Advantage is gone because
of the slow resizing of VirtualDub.
The most important thing for me is picture quality.
    Please tell me your experencies!

    Thanks a lot
    Med.

  9. i recently downloaded tooLAME, but i've no clue how to use ... there's no execution file ...???

    by the way,
why do many people avoid interlaced video?!? as i think to understand, it allows a framerate of 50/60 fps on TV, or am i wrong !?!
and TV-captured material is half the full resolution (576/480) when deinterlaced... so why deinterlacing and not capturing the half resolution (288/240)?

...i really do favor Cinemacraft (good quality and awesome speed)now here's my question - can anybody tell me if there is a possibility to have an interlaced mpeg2 video which is encoded with CCE SP 2.62 ?

i'd like to produce XSVCDs --> PAL 704*576-25fps(50Hz)
...or is it better to have a resolution of 480*576 at same bit rate ???

thanx in advance for (almost) any comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Easiest way to use toolame is to go into the "External Tools" tab of TMPGEnc and browse to the file. TMPGEnc will deal with it then. Of course, you can use the command line directly.

People avoid it because you can't play interlaced video on your computer. Also, because VCD does not allow interlaced video (SVCD does).

Yes, you can encode interlaced video with CCE - you just have to set which field is first in your source.

Personally, I think 480 x (480/576) looks better for a given bitrate than 704*(480/576). But then, I like to keep movies to 2 CDs.
