  1. Is there any way to get some of the subtitles aligned at top? like you can with subler

    https://code.google.com/p/subler/wiki/SrtFileFOrmat

    <b> bold
    <i> italic
    <u> underlined
    <font color="#ffccee">
    X1:0 means the subtitle is aligned to the top of the video
    !!! means a forced subtitle

    srt example

    1
    00:00:02,600 --> 00:00:06,600 X1:0 !!!
    <font color="#ffff00">Yellow Forced Text</font>
    More text and <i>Italic text</i> at top.

    2
    00:00:06,800 --> 00:00:10,000
    <font color="#ffff00">More Yellow</font>
    and two line of text at bottom.

    3
    00:00:11.000 --> 00:00:14.000 !!!
    <b>Bold</b> and forced at bottom.

    4
    00:00:15.500 --> 00:00:18.500 X1:0

  2. You can also make a batch script with ffmpeg which can repack not just mkv but also a lot of formats

    FFMPEG.exe -i "Input_FILE" -acodec copy -vcodec copy "OUTPUT_FILE"

    Could you add the option to automatically choose the top artwork? Currently Mkvtomp4 does this with iTunes artwork, but not the other sources

    I got here from someone's recommendation to use MkvToMp4 to convert a .ts file into an mp4. But when I add the .ts file to the program, nothing happens. The file isn't added to the list, it just stays blank. Is that not something supported by this program? Thanks in advance!

    Edit: Nevermind, the .ts file won't even play in VLC. Back to the drawing board!

  5. There is something wrong with MkvtoMp4 using a lot of CPU time when searching for artwork that can practically lock up a system for a minute or more (longest was fetching 70 artworks).

    After just bearing this for a while, I found that the symptoms can be almost entirely eliminated on any dual-core+ or hyper-threading cpu by opening Task Manager and setting MkvtoMp4's processor affinity to just any 1 core. Hope this helps someone.

    Good info, I have had that issue also, keep in mind that if you encode with MKVtoMP4 at any point, that will be impacted as well.

  7. Hello, I have started to use this program a few days ago, to be able to watch anime on my tv that doesn't read mkv, but I had some problems with it. On some episodes, it doesn't put subtitles in. I don't have any idea why it does that since on some episodes it works perfectly and on others it doesn't, the episode will be fin but without any subtitles in it, it tells me "GSConv terminated with error: 3221225477".
    Here's the log for 2 episodes, one worked and the other didn't.

    Is it possible to add FDKAAC compiled with fdkaac_autobuild from nu774: https://sites.google.com/site/qaacpage/cabinet, https://github.com/nu774/fdkaac) to MkvToMp4? Will it be possible in a future version? I like it more than FhG and QAAC for many reasons: open source and free, one simple file, many options etc.

    Thanks.

  11. Hello,

    Lucky you, I havent been able to get it for six months, lol.

    @oreons:
    Would it be possible to build (or show me how) to have it output the video back to mkv? I know the app is called MKVtoMP4 but I use Kodi and it seems to like MKV's better. I love to use MKVtoMP4 to normalize the audio before playback.

  14. Hello,
    @oreons

    I searched for "mkv to Mp4" and found this tool.

    I want to change container from mkv to m4v with chapters, SRT subtitles intact without encoding anything; but, I didn't find the "Copy audio", "Copy video" kind of settings one can see in Avidemux.

    The settings , sic, are for conversion with various Profiles and customization.

    Will someone please help what settings are to be used and where are they located?

    Thanks.

  16. Attempting to use this tool today but for some reason it isn't automatically converting 6 channel audio into 2 channel. I have to manually click on the audio portion when the file is selected and go into the setting and enable it for each file. Any idea how to fix this bug? P.S. I do have AAC enabled in the options with AAC 2.0 checked off.

    @oreons or any other member.
    How can I put a video track to encode by default? Only thing that I found in the settings was the default encoding parameters.
    Only audio tracks are encoded by default. If I add 20 episodes in the queue, I have to manually put each video track to reencode. Bummer!
    Also, if a v0.225 ever comes out I would like to see an automatic crop tool, just like it is with Handbrake.

    thanks for this great software, oreons!

    See if I can help...unfortunately there is no option to batch encode, only the choice to repack/mux to an m4v/mp4 or encode to one of those containers. Even on audio, if you were to add 20 files that already had compatible audio (AAC 2.0 is the default in the case of this software), it would not encode them unless you told it too. As for video, the default state is to repack/mux, and there is no option to change that default. It's on a file by file basis, as far as I know (he can chime in and correct me!!!), oreons has no plans to add anything like that, it is meant as a repack tool, and the fact that it encodes is a bonus.

    oreons has stated he only has time for bug fixes as of late, so not sure to be honest.

    I hope that helps at all!!!

    Well dakon720, I was expecting that, first because I read almost the entire thread
    and I was imagining that. haha
    But it never hurts leaving a message.
    Thanks for your answer. I like mkvtomp4 because it's very simple. I probably have repacked more than a hundred movies,
    but I faced this "problem" when I was trying to reduce the size of some episodes I have.
    I guess I will stick back to Handbrake for batch encoding.
    thanks again for you and oreons for this great tool!

  20. Please help me!!!

    I downloaded a movie for my grandfather. His ears are getting worse so he needs subtitles. The film is already an MP4 file, and I also downloaded the subtitels, wich are a .srt file. I tried adding the subtitles over and over again but it simply doesn't work. With the film itself is nothing wrong. I redownloaded the subtitles several times and used different sites. It still doesn't seem to work.

    Okay, first, what are you using to play the file for your grandfather? A computer? If so what player? Most players for the PC support embedded subtitles in an .mp4. But not all Bluray players, TV's, etc. do support them. According to the log, the subtitle track IS being created. But mkvtomp4 does not burn them in, so it will be a separate track from the video/audio. Which means if your player supports them, you have to turn them on. So basically, the next question relies on the answer to the first.

  22. I'm using my laptop to play the file. I connect it with the television using a HDMI cable. The player that I use is Windows Media player. The laptop is a HP Pavilion with Windows 8 and Radeon Dual Graphics. The new file of the movie is being made, but the subtitles just don't show up. I also tried xbox video, but the subs don't show up there either. Click image for larger version

    WMP does not turn on subtitles by default, try this link and post back...

    First off, I wanna explain that it isn't an mkvtomp4 issue. It's doing what you want.

    It is a player problem, fortunately, I googled "Windows Media Player subtitles mp4" and pages of solutions came up! All involve installing third party software to fix. In that case,I would recommend installing a different player if you are not hung up on WMP (which I personally don't care for). VLC or Media Player Classic or PotPlayer are extremely good alternatives, and can be as easy as just installing it.

    Hi everyone!

    I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but I hope anyone can enlighten me. I've been using this program for a couple of years now and got no problems with it. Until recently. It seems like when I convert an MP4/MKV with a subtitle, the converted version has a 1/4 subtitle size of the original! I have no problem with the end product in regards to the size or new thumbnail, only the reduced subtitle is bothering me! Is there a way to restore it? I can't find a setting for the size of the subtitles.

    I haven't tinkered the said software since it's just sitting there in my C:. 1 thing I can remember is that I tried upgrading my Win7 to Win10, but reverted back, maybe that was the problem?

    I hope this is enough information for now. I'll be back with my files when I have an answer. TIA!

    That's too bad, however if you're still addressing bug fixes then I have one: it appears that upgrading to Windows 10 breaks the Artworks search. It worked fine for me on Windows 7, but when I upgraded to Windows 10 no artwork appeared. When I rolled back to Windows 7 all was well again. Not sure if this problem also applies to Windows 8/8.1 (I never upgraded to those versions) but this needs to be addressed as more and more people will be upgrading to Windows 10 as time goes on.

    Meanwhile, over on the Doom9 Forum, people are starting to realize that you haven't been updating your software, and even one user has resorted to manually updating tools that MkvtoMp4 uses (i.e. eac3to & mkvtools).

    I think you might want to make an official announcement on both forums if you no longer have the time to properly support this software, and possibly even supply the source code so that someone else could take this over to apply further bug fixes and enhancements.

    Cheers,
    Visor
