So far I have been authoring video clips from my camcorder using Sony Vegas / Pinnacle Studio and burning them onto DVDs with menus etc.
If I need to create HD content, I would need to burn BluRay using same software.
But I was also thinking of buying some NAS storage for streaming and was wondering whether instead of burning blu-ray, is it possible to author a file instead with menus / bookmarks etc that can be streamed to TV or put on Youtube? The reason I want menus/bookmarks is to enable quick transition to specific points in the video clip.

    Nope.

You could make your own flash player with a menu and hd flv/mp4 video. But not just a single file with a menu that works on everything.

YOu could create an HTA front end, with MPC-HC as the backend.

    Thanks Baldrick and dragonkeeper.

    Baldrick,
You say create a flash player with a menu and mp4 video.
    - I can create an mp4 video with Pinnacle.
    - How do I create the menu - are you referring to a menu created thru authoring software like Pinnacle or something else?
    - And when you say flash player what does that mean - is that a web page that has links to the menu and video?

Pardon the dumb questions - but I have never done this before.
