    While doing an overdue update onto my PDF-related "knowledge-base" , I happened to find a tiny, self-contained application, which is able to simply wrap .JPG images in a PDF container

    http://www.comicer.com/stronghorse/software/index.htm#FreePic2Pdf

    N.B.: That page is written in Chinese, BUT it's not difficult to find the link to the English build of the binary.

    Code:
    www.comicer.com/stronghorse/software/exe/FreePic2Pdf_eng.zip
    HTH.

    Thanks, El Heggunte!

    I just tested it with a 10sec DV-AVI file, exported to JPG image sequence and converted to multipage PDF. Works perfectly!

    Tried yours, too, fleminra, but had difficulty with the command line args for python, so skipped it for now...

    @ Scott: you're welcome =^.^=

    @ fleminra: would it be too difficult to "translate" the Python code into something compilable with gcc

  4. Irfanview can do this as well. Batch mode can do a series of images. Works well.

    IrfanView 4.30 cannot do the conversion WITHOUT recompression.
    XnView probably cannot do the trick either.

    And even though deflate compression is lossless, it's rather inefficient when compared to JPEG2000.

    You can choose "no compression" in XnView under save options.

    But what do you mean by "no compression"?

    1) the JPG/JP2 file will be PDF-wrapped without a change ;

    OR...

    2) the JPG/JP2 file will be decompressed to RGB24 and then wrapped in a PDF container ;

    FreePic2Pdf does 1).

    I assume that it wraps the files in a pdf wrapper with no change since the ouput file was the same size as the image files combined. I used bitmaps in my test.
