@MilesAhead profiles do not have container info, container is selected according to video codec. I have added that to my to-do list, in next release container will be changed according to profile.

    Thanks for progress comment.

    Hi Ozok
This is an update of what I have been able to test so far.
On windows 7 (64bit) it will read an AVS script if I delete Ffmpeg_64 and rename the Ffmpeg (32bit version) to 64 bit. So that problem is within Ffmpeg_64.

However my goal is to frameserve from the timeline of Vegas to an AVS script and render that by using Tencoder. So far I have not been able to get Tencoder to do that using either Windows XP Pro or Windows 7(64). It does render AVS (only with your update exe) if the input is a true video file and not a frameserved file.

Both Avanti and TMPGEnc Express will handle frameserved AVS files well. However from my testing so far, using only a true video file as the source in an AVS script, the results Tencoder produces are better than both. I certainly can not explain why that would be so but they are. I also hope that if we can get Tencoder to accept frameserved scripts that the difference will still be there, my guess is that it will be.

You may well ask why do I want to do this?
I want to be able to convert 1920x1080x50P footage, which many of the newer camcorders record, to 1920x1080x25i for Bluray and 720x576x25i for DVD.
Nothing I have come across and I really have done a lot of testing with different programs and none of them interlace 50P material correctly. With an AVS script I can and that makes the result look so much better.

The attached log file is from an AVS that is has a frameserved video file.

Hope you can help me sort this out as I would really like to use Tencoder, it's a great program.

It looks like FFMpeg cannot detect source video's codec.

    Code:
[avi @ 03b21440] Could not find codec parameters for stream 0 (Video: none (DFSC / 0x43534644), 1920x1080): unknown codec
Also there might be something wrong with your AVS script. But that might be completely wrong, because you say other software can read it prefectly fine.

    Code:
[buffer @ 020d7900] Unable to parse option value "-1" as pixel format
What happens if you replace FFMpeg.exe with the one from Avanti? I use latest FFMpeg builds from http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/.

Again, I don't know much about AVS scripts, but maybe you must make some changes to it or you must adjust Vegas' frameserving options if there are any.

I am assuming you are same person who also opened a thread in TEncoder sourceforge page. I will answer here as this is a much more popular forum.

    Problem is here:
AVI: invalid audio stream ID: 0 - ignoring (nosound)
What are the items in "Audio Tracks" list? It looks like TEncoder calculates these audio stream indexes wrong.

As a workaround, you may enter "-aid 1" into "MEncoder custom Audio Options".

Gotta run out now, will be back in 9 hours to try, thanks.

I did convert the avi to mpeg using FreeMake and ran the mpg thru Tencoder, i think that makes the audio work but did not have time to see if the burning of captions works at the same time. THANKS.

Edit - and yes I posted on your Tencoder help site too.

It leaves me doing the settings by hand. Is there something obvious that just goes over my head? Granted .mp4 files give good quality for the bit rate, but I cannot seek the video in my WD player using .mp4 or .m4v files. For that reason I'm trying to encode to AC3 audio and MKV container. No chapter support but at least I can hit the FF button, then Next to jump ahead in 10 minute chunks.

This program really seems to be coming into its own. Great progress. I enjoy using it.
I have located and fixed the problem that caused it. In next release container will be chaged according to the profile not video codec.

OK, Tencoder did not like the audio on my avi that I wanted to hardburn subtitles onto.

However after i converted it to an mpg, then ran that thru tencoder (using AAC as the selected codec), it worked fine, and the subs were repositioned fine too. WOOHOO! Thanks Ozok!!!

Although I am not currently using TEncoder, my ffmpeg (Zeranoe build Feb17, 2013) also states ".avs: Input/output error" such as goorawin. Could you pass on your trick to make this work?
I have been :bangs head on screen: for a while.
    Thank you.

@Squeeto, sorry for the delayed answer. I actually don't remember the solution, it's been a while, but it was about audio, I think. I'll take a look and give you more detail asap.

  23. Hi Ozok, just discovered this tool today and so far have found it to be the best one for my needs. I was wondering if you could clear up something for me in it's use though. I have a flv file that contains speex audio which doesn't play friendly with my video player so I wanted to use your program to change the audio to something like mp3 or aac while leaving the video portion untouched. I set the video codec to direct copy and chose mp3 for the audio and ran the conversion using FFMpeg keeping the container as flv. The output file plays in my media player, but it has an mp3 extension which seems odd. Can you tell me if I did what I hoped to, and can I just change the extension to flv without issue? I know this is probably a silly question, but I'm rather slow when it comes to all these things. Thanks.

@woody345 you are quite right, it is a bug. I'll release a fix asap. Meanwhile you can download TEncoder.exe from here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9617171/TEncoder.7z
Copy it to TEncoder folder, overwrite older one. This for installed version, not portable.

Edit: Please post an answer asap if your problem is solved, thx.

  25. That worked just fine Ozok, thank you for the very fast response. Just for clarification, by choosing the direct copy for the video that leaves it untouched correct?

I'm running Windows 7 x64 and my display of the GUI is not as clean as the first image in this thread when I run the GUI fully maximized. It looks like there is another drop down that's partially covered.

@mail2tom, did you strech the GUI? Looks like there is an other bug; instead of staying on the right side, settings resize to left as well.
