  1. I've been buring Divx (.avi) files for years, I use Toshiba DVD Players
to play these DISCs with .avi files, now I see a new format (.mp4)
but when I burn them, my DVD Player will not work with them..

Is there a Standalone DVD Player that plays Divx (.avi) and (.mp4) files ?

    .mp4 file info:
    Created with : HandBrake Software
    Video Codec: avc1: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
Audio Codec: mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC

My Phillips 5990 does - but not in the way you'd want. For that player, any .mp4 videos have to contain a DivX/Xvid video stream and MP3 audio stream.

I don't think there are any DVD players that support playback of h264/AVC video, in or out of an .mp4 container, and certainly not HD video. Blu-Ray players... maybe. But, like DVD players that support playing video files, they're almost always extremely picky about what kind of video and audio is in the containers they support (MKV, MP4, WMV, AVI, .divx, etc.). You might have better luck with a media center type of player, or media players like the WDTV (which doesn't support disc playing, but it'll still support playback of more than a hardware DVD/BD player would.)
