Hello.
I am trying to embed the code for a .flv video on my website http://www.mirtos-reizen.nl/wegennet.html.
It works fine under Internet Explorer, but does not start under Firefox, what am I doing wrong?:
<!-- MC Media Player -->
<script type="text/javascript">
playerFile = "http://www.mcmediaplayer.com/public/mcmp_0.8.swf";
fpFileURL = "http://www.mirtos-reizen.nl/wegennet/100_4017.flv";
playerSize = "500x375";
fpAction = "play";
defaultEndAction = "stop,fpButton=off";
cpSize = "960x24";
cpHidePanel = "mouseout";
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.mcmediaplayer.com/public/mcmp_0.8.js"></script>

Something is wrong with the js file, http://www.mcmediaplayer.com/public/mcmp_0.8.js .
I receive a javascript error
Code:[13:05:43.541] illegal character @ http://www.mcmediaplayer.com/public/mcmp_0.8.js:1

It doesn't work yet, I use the same code as http://www.videoholland.tv/agios_ned.html f.i., perhaps you could look at the source, maybe I am forgetting something...
-
No. I can't see any difference. But redownload mcmp_0.8.js from http://www.mcmediaplayer.com/about/history/altair/0.8.html and upload.

Might be a long shot, but it looks like the syntax isn't right here. Maybe this instead:
Code:defaultEndAction = "stop"; fpButton = "off";
I wouldn't have thought this would stop the player loading though...
Excuse me asking the obvious, but has Firefox got a recent version of Adobe Flash installed and javascript enabled? What version of FF are you using? -
Doesn't work either intracube, I never use Firefox normally, just for this purpose I just downloaded it, version 7.0.
I have not installed anything as on www.videohollang.tv I can watch all the movies with the Firefox I use and not the movies om my website, very very strange... -
I took a copy of your webpage and associated files. All I saw when trying to view it on my computer was the raw html with additional non ASCII characters.
The actual webpage is UTF-16le encoded, but charset="UTF-16" is specified within the webpage. I converted the page to UTF-8 and modified the charset to read charset="UTF-8" and Firefox then loaded the page.
Here's some more info on the character encoding issue:
http://superuser.com/questions/23777/firefox-displays-garbage-characters-in-lieu-of-web-page
I don't know the easiest way to change the file encoding with Windows (I use Linux). Hopefully someone can give you a suggestion. -
With UTF-8 and roughly cleaned up code (tag nesting errors), the page loads fine, including the video, in all the browsers I have installed here (Safari, Firefox, iCab).
The swf, js and flv file are okay. It is the html file that needed fixing.
(You could make better use of CSS, to avoid the <font> and <center> tags, but that is for a next clean-up... )
(Attached file is RAR'ed so the board will allow the upload of an .html file. Unrar with your fav decompression utility.) -
Intracube and Case
I can't thank you both enough !!!!
Saving the file as UTF-8 was the solution... How stupid of me not to see that.. thans, thanks, thanks, what a great forum with great users this is!.
Next I will take an aspirin against the headache and wish you all a very nice day.
Best regards
