    Hi,

I have ripped a DVD with DVD Shrink using the region free option. I am living in the united states and have had no issue with burning playing the DVD. Recently I had visitors from the UK. I loaned them my copy of this DVD but I am wondering if it will play in their PAL players. I've been a bit confused as to the similarities between Region (1, 2, 3, etc) and PAL vs NTSC.

Does a region free rip necessarily mean the DVD will play fine on PAL or NTSC players?

Since it's a burned disk the Region problem won't apply.
As to it being NTSC video, it seems that in the UK, standalone players have no problems with it - that's according to the people I talk to in the UK.

UK type players will typically play NTSC DVD as PAL-60 for analog out. PAL-60 plays fine on European TV sets, but not on US TV sets.

Very few capture cards will capture PAL-60.
