  1. No difference in playing Blu-ray. Gaming? Yes.

Before I make my purchase I was just going to confirm what everyone is saying. A GTX 550 ti would be great for vegas pro 11 and a 560 ti would not make any difference in anything I do with vegas pro?

Most likely but Sony hasn't announced which display cards are supported by v11 and for which features.

I see that Vegas Pro 11 is out. Has anyone seen a list of supported GPUs?

...GeForce GTX 4xx Series or newer GPU.
...Radeon HD 57xx or newer GPU.
    That leaves me out

I'll probably upgrade to Vegas Pro 11 but not my display card until I see more tests.

Does anyone know if the Nvidia cards are better for Vegas Pro 11 than the ATI cards or does it make a difference?

Depends which card. At the top NVidia looks faster for encoding, ATI for decode.

Okay, look at this. The 570 does not blow the 6870 away according to everything I have read. They are somewhat close but the 570 does win overall.

I can get a 6870 for 149 with a rebate. The cheapest 570 is 329. The 570 is not even worth $50 let alone 180. What do you say ed?

Get the best card you can afford. HDV on an i7 will be fast already without GPU assist.

  13. I don't know about Vegas, but other GPU encoding benchmarks don't show a huge difference between mid range and hi end graphics cards. And GPU encoding delivers inferior quality compared to CPU encoding.

I have 16GB or ram. How much do you recommend for allocating to Vegas?

Don't know if version 11 has changed but I'd just let Vegas request the memory it wants from Windows.

The release notes probably state all the 64bit and memory issues.

Is there a setting in Vegas for this? There's a guy in another thread getting "low memory" errors from Vegas with a 5 minute HD clip. Could this be his problem?

Do you think hyper-threading should be enabled?

Good, because it is. Just making sure it did not effect video editing in any bad way. Thanks.

Adobe products (Photoshop, Premiere, etc.) have dedicated memory features but I don't see these in the Vegas Pro v10 preferences. I'll be installing v11 soon after I clean up some existing projects.
