How to convert MKV files to other media formats?

Greetings! I have a problem in converting .mkv files.
I convert them using SUPER but it gives me an error about DirectShow.
The second try I checked the DirectShow option. And still the same error.
I wish to convert .mkv with a free software without the cost of re-sizing and quality.

I have tried to extract it with mkvextract. But still no slice.
The output I placed does not play in my media players.

If you want a mp4 use rebox.net. No video reconversion.

Sir Baldrick. It would seem that.. When I playback the output video of the freemake video converter in my DVD player. It would skip 1 minute or few seconds after a few frames. But I will try the other 2 links you gave me. I will post my feed backs after a day or so.

In freemake video converter be sure to choose a XviD MP4 preset like TV Quality for example(after you clicked to AVI).

Still no slice with the freemake video converter. But it would seem Any Video Converter Free Version did it for me. Thanks alot Baldrick! Now I can work with DVDs and lighten other media I have.
