  1. Hi,

The title kinda says it all. The bloggie camera produces side by side (SBS) HD Mp4 files that takes forever to render in Sony Vegas... The only editing done is crossfades between clips. I have found no way to have Vegas smart render these files

    Regards to you all!

    Are from the FUTURE?

Sony Vegas is currently only up to v10.e.

Maybe that's why you're having so much trouble.

    DV for sure, HDV probably.

Those guys in Madison try to dumb down the user interface for Movie Studio but the engine is similar across current versions. I'm amazed at what Movie Studio Platinum 10 can be coaxed to do but you need to be Vegas Pro savvy to see what is missing in the GUI.

All I want to do is to combine files in this format. Preferably I would like to cross fade with smart render of the the parts of the files that are not edited (cross faded). If this will not work I will have to do without crossfading. Will this work in Vegas movie studio or pro? If not, does anyone know of an alternative that will smart render? Re-rendering of these files definatly takes to long time in Vegas. Also it is nice not do degrade the quality of the video.

No AVC Smart Render yet in Vegas (or anyone else that I know of).

Vegas will re-recode all AVC even it you cut on I frames so go ahead with transitions.

Other cutters will cut AVC on I frames (1/2 second edit accuracy) but I cant recall which.

PS: Half second applies to camcorder (15/12 frame GOP) AVCHD, etc. Longer GOP AVC will have less accuracy.

  9. There is a buzz that Corel Video Studio can smart render. Perhaps still not 100%, there is o lot of variations of H.264 out there.
