    Hello,

the format used by HD writers is proprietary, right?

So, is it possible to get

    * a suitable cable (maybe HDMI-to-USB?), and especially
    * play a recorded film thereby wirting it to the disk or writer?

since playing means converting it to some standard format, doesn't it?

    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Ulrich

No. You can do an analogue transfer, or try pulling the hard drive out and reading it in your PC. Depending on the unit it may be possible.

What goes over the HDMI cable is not the same as the data that makes up a DVD.
