Do a google search for 'Skydrivers XP'. This marvel will auto-detect your hardware and install the appropriate drivers
    automatically it's extensive collection.

  4. It is a near-certainty that the correct and most appropriate drivers are available at the manufacturer's website.

That system is nearly identical to one I just downloaded all the drivers for from the HP website.

There is no such thing as an Internet driver. What you want is most likely a network card driver.

Driver-finding programs are unnecessary and probably a scam or at best a wasted resource.

Other than mouse and keyboard, NO repeat NO devices should be connected to USB until all system board drivers are loaded. Most especially external hard drives should not be attached while installing operating system.

Describe in more detail EXACTLY what happened when the HP drivers "did not work". Explain attempted procedure step-by-step.

Like others already said, these drivers are easy to get.
I want to add just another thing: Next time "blank out" the XP serial - as it is a wellknown VLK

i would just check out asus' website, most of the audio and nic drivers don't change from one chipset to another and chances are even if you can;t find the drivers for that exact model motherboard any of the audio and nic drivers will work so long as it's from a motherboard that uses a chips from the same manufacture.

    .
This is true 99% of the time.
However my HP mini desktop came with an HP driver/update finder. So HP may take care of itself.

Thank you very much, Aedipuss! I'll let you know if they worked.

Nelson37, there's no need to be so condescending, please. Not knowing (or not caring about) how the proper terminology goes should not automatically make you talk to me like to a child.
Also, I don't have time to type everything I did and everything the computer responded. Moreover, seeing Aedipuss' reply, clearly that wouldn't have been necessary, anyway.

NoBuddy, pretty much the same goes for you, too. Yeah, they're easy to get, but did you post any links to help me?
And I don't really care about the serial, or who sees it. It's not this computer, and it's not my computer, so...

Finally, I did check the official websites first. Maybe I did it wrongly, but I did go there.

  9. You have evidently learned how to get it done by finding someone else to do the work for you. IMO, what you need to learn is how to do the work that you want done, for yourself.

You do not yet know what is or is not necessary, as evidently you have not had success loading the drivers yet. They most likely are correct, but the same would be true of the ones from HP.

Are you aware that many manufacturers get parts that are custom made for that company, and that the drivers for that hardware are sometimes ONLY available from said manufacturer? If you ever do this for a Dell or Gateway, you had better be familiar with this concept or you will experience a LOT of failure and frustration.

I've talked to you like a child because you have acted like one. I will work with you to see to it that you have a clue, or you can choose to continue without one. There will not always be someone available willing to spoon-feed you the answers you need.

The HP drivers mostly follow the old Compaq form, named SP (for service pack) plus a number. You run these and they create an install directory. Then you run the setup from that directory. My guess would be that you ran the initial de-compression but not the setup program, or more simply that you did not correctly input the model number to find the files. Took me about 3 minutes, with incomplete information. "presario mx6280", IIRC.

Now do you want to be able to do it correctly the next time, or continue to depend on the kindness of strangers? What EXACTLY went wrong with the attempted DL from HP? Clues are available NOW, if you want some.

Again, quit treating me like a child, dude! I did not ask just you, specifically. If people want to reply and help me, fine. If I get no replies, that's that.
But don't be answering and irritating people who ask even more. Can you comprehend that they have enough aggravation trying to find answers to their problems without having to deal with someone who criticizes them for they way in which they ask? (But, maybe, while you could be a genius in computer issues, you could be totally ignorant in how-to-deal-with-people issues...)
So, it could be a good idea to leave people be, if you need to scoff at them before offering a clue here and a clue there, wrapped in sarcasm.

And the kindness of strangers worked, didn't it? Luckily, you're not the only stranger on whose kindness I had to rely...

Thank you very much, Aedipuss! You have helped me immensely. You're the man!

  11. Expert, perhaps, deeply experienced in getting people to do that which they clearly do not wish to do, yes. Genius? Definitely. Interested in helping you any further? No way in hell. Totally ignorant (on nearly any subject you care to name)? Not a label anyone has ever applied to me.

What I told you is the BETTER way to accomplish your goal. What I warned you about is DANGEROUS. The procedure I recommended will AVOID serious problems. What I offered was to SOLVE your problem. You might actually have to put forth some thought and effort, though.

You could not even be bothered to explain your original problem sufficiently to allow for a solution to be proposed.

What are you, 14, 15 maybe? I personally would not give 10 lbs of condensed turtle shit for your opinion, it is less than worthless to me. I am not interested in making you feel good about yourself. It's just that clueless dumbasses annoy me.

It is clear that you do not wish to learn. But BY GOD you will sure whine pitifully like a little kitten until Somebody drops what they are doing to come and help you out. The problem I have is that you will do it again, and again, and again, without EVER ONCE putting in ONE SINGLE, USEFUL PIECE of information that will help out the next person who is as clueless as you. HOW DID THE HP DRIVERS FAIL? Did something stupid you don't want to admit, didn't you?

You think my response was irritating? You IRRITATE ME! Your continued EXISTENSE IRRITATES ME! Your ******* attitude, stupidity, immaturity, and cluelessness IRRITATES ME! Dumbass morons such as yourself are coming close to destroying this country, and the whole freaking planet!

You will quickly run out of strangers, and then what will you do?
