    Hi ALL!

I've burned a DVD some years ago. At that time, it played fine on both computer and standalone player.
I tried to play it by now in computer, and the PC says it's blank!
It doesn't seem to be scratched. It was stored in a slim case DVD.
    Its media ID is TYG02.
Is there anything I can do to make it work again?
    Thank you so much!
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

Some years ago means what exactly?

isobuster is one of your best chances.

[_chef_]: more than 3 years. I guess 5 years ago.
I've tried using Isobuster. It did recognize the DVD, I mean, at least it didn't say that the disc was blank.
Then, I've run the program, and it tooked about 24 hours to read just 3%! Is that normal?
I didn't have patience to wait about a month till it (hopefully) finishes; however, if that is normal, then I would wait.
    Thanks for the help!
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

Sorry for the late answer, but better late than never....

You should try with different drives if possible, some are crap readers and others can read all media like a charm.

Later on, I had pacience to wait until Isobuster finishes - and it did, many many days later.
It recorded some files, but the footages were segmented. Impossible to watch.
    I don't think it's a reader issue, as I've tried many readers.
It sounds too strange, as the media doesn't seem to me scratched. It had just layed in its case during the whole time.
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

TYG02 is rather infamous in that a lot of low quality media fakes used that code without authorization. You will need to look for a secondary code on the disc itself. See the thread here:
    http://forum.digital-digest.com/f69/how-do-i-know-if-my-taiyo-yuden-tyg02-fake-media-70724.html
Look for the post from Chewy which has a photo that shows you how to find the secondary code on the disc.

Just curious if the DVD still plays completely though on a standalone player.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

I was responding to the original poster who knows what I meant since he used the term in describing his problem .

However to answer your question, a standalone DVD player is the one you use in you home to play movies on your television. It does not require a computer that's why it can be referred to as a "standalone" as opposed to a DVDROM which reads DVD or DVD Writer which reads and writes DVD all of which are also commonly referred to as DVD drives that require a computer to function. Similar terminology can be applied to Blu-ray devices.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

This sounds similar to problems with NEC burners in WinXP and Vista systems discussed at http://club.myce.com/f86/nec-optiarc-dvd-r-reading-problems-209168/. OP profile doesn't show NEC burner, but symptoms seem quite similar including the fact Isobuster reads media Windows doesn't.
