Dear all,
I have bought a fire wire 1394 cable for my Panasonic DV to transfer my recorded video to my laptop. But this cable was not detected. My laptop couldn't detect it. I use Windows7 as my OS.
I'm worried if my laptop has a problem for its IEEE 1394 driver. I use an Acer Aspire 4720z. Should I install an additional cd driver for this IEEE 1394 port?
What should I prepare (e.g CD Driver, etc) before I can capture video from these devices? Please kindly advise me.
Thank you.

try connecting the camera this way. start computer. turn on cam, put it in playback mode. plug cable into cam and then other end to computer. run winDV(a free program to capture from DV cams). it should detect the camera.
