Hello. I have some time over the summer to copy my VHS and Hi8 tapes to digital format. I want to archive my videos and also make DVD backups. I dowloaded Exsate DV Capture Live and captured some tapes in the AVI (default?) format, but the results don't look that good. The video looks like a whole buch of distracting horizontal lines.
Should I be capturing in the WMV format for VHS/Hi8 and if so, what settigs should I use on Exsate DV Capture Live? (The attached image shows my current settings for WMV capture.)
I don't plan to do much (any?) major editing, except for removing footage where the camera was left on accidentally.
I am using the AV>DV pass through on my Sony TRV-120.
I have looked through this forum (and others) but am very confused at all the options, formats, and hardware that folks are talking about.
Thank you for your help.
~Dom
