When using Adobe Audition 3.0 to import 96khz-24 .wav files, they are displayed as 32-bit files in Adobe on the bottom as
96000 . 32-bit . Stereo
So when I select down-sample to 44.1khz w/o any dither, Adobe prefilters, downsamples, then shows "converting 32-bit to 24-bit".
Under Edit/Preferences/Data I have "Auto-convert all data to 32-bit upon opening" UNCHECKED.
The source is 24-bit (MediaInfo), so what is Adobe Audition really doing at that point?
Is Adobe converting to 32-bit upon opening, then back to 24-bit degrading the audio file?
The plan was to down sample with Adobe(Save as same bit rate), then use iZoptope Ozone 4 dither plugin w/audacity to dither Mbit+ rebit to 16 bits for CDs.
Don't believe Audacity down sampling to be the best.
Thanks gents...

the only "portable" version of audition is warez.
you might have to actually buy it to get settings to work.--
