  1. I have Nexxtech DVD-R and using Infrarecorder, I was able to read the disc information. I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop, with a NEC 6650A DVD burner, with region 1 set. The blank DVD-R disc is showing region 8.. and i cant write to it.

Any ideas on how to bypass the region on a blank DVD-R?

If the disc shows a region code then it is not blank....and assigning a region code to a DVD-R is actually quite difficult....I highly doubt what you are seeing is correct information.

A garbage disc using somewhat lousy burning software.
Not really a recipe for success to begin with.

As hech stated, a blank dvdr can NOT have a region code.
And it's actually pretty easy to put a region code on a burned dvdr.

And do you really expect anyone to get any kind of information from that postage stamp photo ?

Install ImgBurn (it's free burning software). Start it up and choose "Write files/folders to disc". When the GUI starts up, go to the Device tab and make sure that you burner is selected under Destinations on the left bottom. Put in your disc. If it's got data on it, ImgBurn will tell you although you may or may not be able to understand what it says to determine that. If you're unsure, post a larger photo of the info it gives. Scroll down and take a few screen captures so we can see it all. I also do not believe that these are blank discs. You can't always tell by looking at the data side.

A friend of mine killed his DVD recorder using crap nexxtech rewritable discs. Now it's only good as a player for pressed DVD's and only after I tweeked the laser.

Praetorian_Perfect - Your disc is definitely blank. Thanks for including the ImgBurn screenshots. However I'm not familiar with the brand or that manufacturer code, so you can bet that the disc is not very good. A blank disc cannot have a region code on it so I would attribute that to some kind of bug in Infrarecorder (not familiar with it and it's not something we recommend using).
