I have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 250 Video card and the small digital convert box from Comcast which is basically for any TV without a cable box. This cable box has only two coax inputs. I have cable from wall into box and a cable from the box to the video card. I didn't have the software so I downloaded from http://www.shspvr.com/pvr2_drv-apps.html The drivers are loaded and I installed the software.
I get video but it's black and white and the audio comes in and out and full of static. I don't really want to capture any video, I just want to view TV in color with audio on m PC. I have a Dell WFP2408 LCD monitor with PIP (which is really what I'd like to have the TV running through).
I'm running XP SP3 and thank you for any help you can provide this rookie.

hmm, I have a similar PVR-350 on this machine using Hauppauge WinTV 6 and it works fine. Sounds like you have a DTA (digital transport adapter) from the cable company or in other words a cable to RF channel 3 or channel 4 converter.
1st step is make sure the PVR250 is working. Connect it directly to the incoming cable and do a channel scan. It should find the cable system's analog channels (expect 20 to 70 depending on your plan.).
After you get that working, put the DTA in the path and then change to channel 3 or 4 as set. Then you will be able to use the DTA remote to select more channels.
The DTA converts the SD MPeg2 TS channels to RF channel 3 or 4. You should get the locals plus as many cable channels as they want you to see.Last edited by edDV; 21st Jun 2011 at 22:35.

Thanks for the help. Comcast, without the box, only lets you get like 14 total channels, stopping at about channel 15. Should I still do that?
There are two coax inputs on card but I don't see how they are labeled.
Also, I can't seem to get WinTV 6 to install from the Hauppauge website. When I try to install from this site: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_pvr250-350.html the install asks for the CD (which I don't have) -
Hauppauge (insert expletive) requires you have the included CD (or any PVR CD) in the drive before you can download the latest version of WinTV 6 . I thought you had this figured out since you are talking to SHS.
In your case you only need WinTV to select channel 3 or 4.
Mine has only one in and one out (a dc50xu). Got no idea what your second input is for.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

To get the drivers installed without the CD, take a look at the last post on this thread: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/htpc-systems-software/37324-i-need-software-liste...my-movies.html
