  1. hello all,

here is my setup. i am using vista32. have an asus 5450 video card which is hooked up to my tv using hdmi and then i am using my tv's spdif to connect to my reciever. the issue that i am having is that i only have 2 channels for an option in the speakers option, it won't let me change to anything else, so i don't get any ac3 or dts. any idea's?

    thanks.

On most motherboards, there is a S/PDIF output and you could run that directly to your receiver for surround sound.

    One guide: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/333711-S-PDIF-connectors-and-making-your-own-MB-S-PDIF-connector?

It may be that your video card isn't passing anything but stereo to the TV over the HDMI. Check your audio and video card settings. Or the TV may be down converting the surround sound to stereo.
