  1. Hi, first post. First of all I've tried my best to do my homework, I've spent many hours this week trying to figure this out, and searching around here and elsewhere, so even if I'm being dense I would appreciate any help.

With multiAVCHD I can't create AVCHD with more than one audio track or with subtitles. The log shows that the subtitles aren't even sent to tsMuxeR. (But if I select the Panasonic BR player profile instead of the Viera TV one the log seems OK and the "tsMuxeR meta" includes all the tracks, but the same problem happens.) If I use tsMuxeR instead of multiAVCHD it's all good, the stream includes the tracks and I can play them on the PC, but then my TV doesn't understand tsMuxeR's flavor of AVCHD--and besides I think it can't bundle several videos into one AVCHD disk, like multiAVCHD can?

The following is something I posted on multiforum.deanbg.com, although it hasn't been approved yet, but it has all the information:
    __________

I think I have done my homework, I have installed all the requirements (and I have installed on C:\multiAVCHD\), I've read everything I've found, and I pass the multitest. I have Vista x64.

The video is good and so is the first audio track, but the second audio track and the subtitles aren't added correctly, even though I don't see anything strange in the log (pasted at the end)--except for the frame reference count non compliance, but I don't know if that's got more to do with the video, which results and is played by the TV perfectly. At any rate I have tried transcoding to change the reference frame count, but the result is the same, even if there are no errors in the log then.

At the start of the job, the program sounds a very loud alarm. Is it because of some other problem that's not marked in red in the log, or is it supposed to be a feature?

If I click on the file in the Media tab to see the properties, the Haali splitter takes half a minute, and if I right-click on its tray icon I can see the two audio tracks and the subtitles one. They are then also listed by multiAVCHD in the properties. But then when the job is being finished, the Haali tray icon goes back but when I right-click on it, the subtitles track is no longer there--both audio tracks are still listed. I have tried the version of Haali downloaded from here, as well as the most recent one, and I have tried enabling "autoload VSFilter".

The log reports "2 audio tracks and 0 subtitle tracks". If I inspect the resulting .MTS stream file with MediaInfo, it says there's a video track and two audio tracks, but no subtitles track. If I play it on the computer with MPC, this recognizes one audio track only, and it does recognize a subtitles track, but labeled "No subtitles" (instead of the subtitles option being grayed out, as usual when there are no subtitles. And I can open the Subresync of MPC (which I can't when there's really no subtitles track), but it shows this subtitles track completely empty. If I play the output on the TV (PAL Panasonic Viera) from a SD card, the TV reports two audio tracks, but switching to the second one fails (it takes half a minute, and then the same track as before is heard) The TV reports no subtitles.

There is something else I've observed, although I don't know if it happens to everyone and is unrelated. I can't move or delete the output folder unless I close the program, and Process Explorer shows these dangling handles, after multiAVCHD reports having finished:

    And this is the log:

I suggest you to use avchdcoder. Quality-wise it's better since it calculates output size (=bitrate) better, meaning when your project with mavchd ends up to 4.19Gb example, avchdcoder does it 4.36Gb. I have done many projects with avchdcoder that includes multiple subtitles / audio tracks, without problem. Just need to make sure that audio is without mark "header stripping" cause tsmuxer failures otherwise.

  3. Thanks. Although now I bought a media player dirt cheap, so I no longer need to convert to AVCHD. But if I find the time I'll check if AVCHDCoder does my TV.
