  1. I'm trying to convert some VHS tapes to DVD and upon playback there are parts of the tape that have scrolling horizontal lines. The tapes are from the mid/late 90s.

I've tried different vcr's and although some play them better than others, the line issue is still there.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed? Can the tapes be cleaned with success?

    Any help would be great...

Give more info. How do you capture? DVD Recorder? Computer with capture card? Post a short sample, etc.

  3. I am transferring from my Panasonic AG-1980 VCR to my DVD recorder.

Some tapes have more "lines" than others. Some only have a few spots here and there, and others have spots more frequently.

I've attached a picture. This is a minor example, as certain spots have numerous lines scrolling through the image.

Anyone know how I can fix this? Since I've noticed it on different vcr's, I'm sure it is a tape problem.

  5. Can this be removed or fixed? What is the best method to deal with this so that the tapes will play "normally" again?

The tapes must be specially baked and cleaned.
This is not something a home user can do. I can't even do it with a small studio.
