Regarding your problem with streaming with the Slingbox, I suspect it just can't handle 1080p60 input. Try changing the computer's output to 1080i30 or 720p60, ie, the broadcast standards in the USA.

Tested it with the BlackMagic HyperDeck Shuttle and my cable provider's On Demand service.

Sure enough, it works. Despite the photo on Amazon, it doesn't have any Cvid branding printed onto the top.

Looks like the seller no longer has any stock in Amazon's fulfillment center, as they're now charging for shipping direct from them.

Thanks for that report. Mine arrived a few days ago. I don't currently have any displays without HDCP but I verified that it works as an HDMI distribution amp, up to to 1080p60 YUV and RGB. I'll have to track down a non-HDCP display...

There aren't very many because most HDMI sources are HDCP protected so few people can use them. A few of Black Magic's Intensity series, the Avermedia HD series, Japanese "MonsterX" series?. I'm sure there are more but many have been discontinued -- probably because of high returns from customers who didn't realize the device wouldn't record their HDCP protected cable box, satellite box, etc.

i purchased 3 of these units from the ebay seller...shipped right from Chicago. all 3 work perfectly! Can record netflix or VUDU movies straight from any device that supports them...zero lag at all. would HIGHLY recommend this device. 1080P high quality video and sound. absolutely perfect!

My friend is using the AverMedia Gamebroadcaster HD to record 1080p30 and it works flawless. I'll have to ask him if it records 5.1 audio as well.

So using that 1x4 HDMI splitter/decrypter plus that AverMedia card should work really sweet.

I've been using the Hauppauge which, as everyone knows, re-enocodes via component. It works great but if I'm able to just do a straight capture, that would obviously be even better.

Simply don't think you've been listening. Not all devices HAVE component outputs. Also, why would i want to use component when I can get the surround sound signal coming via HDMI instead of using an analog signal? For those wanting a clean HDMI to HDMI splitter getting rid of the HDCP, this device is for you. Awesome device!! Love it!

Pretty much any cable box in Canada. I've got Scientific Atlanta 8300HD PVR, 4250HD, a bunch of new cisco boxes. All of them turn off component as soon as you view a high def channel over 480p

Serious? I always thought these boxes weren't capable of outputting HD over Component, not that it was a restriction by my cable provider! If I had have been able to record the component I wouldn't have bothered with all of these HDMI to Component and HDMI decrypter devices

Yup. They're the primary boxes that Time Warner Cable uses. That's got to be a cable issue. I've even captured things from PPV.

Oh, there's also the Hauppauge HD PVR2. But if you feed it 1080p60 it will record as 1080p30 (every other frame is discarded). Or it can downscale to 720p60.

I'm not aware of any consumer HDMI recorders that can record 1080p60 as 1080p60.

Digitalfreaknyc: you are always going to have to re-encode when capturing component or HDMI, because unlike Firewire they are only designed for display purposes, not data transfer. The best you can do for HDMI capture is a 100GB/hour lossless video file that is a mathematically perfect recreation of the decompressed input signal -- if your device outpits 4:2:2.

The Hauppauge does not re-encode AC3 audio, by the way. Somewhere they mention that.

And somewhere among my posts are a few 5.1 + HDMI cards I have found online. The Korean ones seem difficult to acquire, unless you buy from Amazon Japan and pay a middleman.
