    Describe the tape format

    2" Quadruplex?
    1" Ampex/IVC/B/C?

    Cassettes?

You need to give us more information.

Take a picture of the tape box.

I have a few film projectors. You can find them from time to time at thrift shops, that's where I found my 16mm projector.

    Lighten up!!!

It's pretty obvious he meant 8mm film.... so he misspoke and said "tape"

I even guessed he meant 8mm film when he said,
My friend has a lot of reel to reel movies from 60's.
and thought, what usual person in the world even has a clue what you are talking about when you posted this,

Even most people that are members of this site don't have that much knowledge or have even heard of half the formats that exist, let alone the rest of the world.

Stop trying to fry everyone's brain with overkill information for the simplest Q and assuming everyone knows all the formats ever used in all of known time

You can't transfer film at home and have it not look bad.
Pay a good service. It's inexpensive.

    I would suggest that's a good thing.
This site needs more pros, and less "help me rip my rented DVD to Blu-ray with one click, k thx, bye".

Can't the OP spell F I L M if it is film? Since when is film called tape?

And at least in California, and near educational institutions, it is not unusual to find a collection of
video tape or computer tape in peoples basements or garages. Quite common in estate sales.
